Sam sleeps with the paints
Sam....every time she hears me pull out my chair to sit down and draw or paint she comes running and jumps up there on that window seat and stares out the window or sleeps while I do whatever. She seems to think she MUST lay there while I work. Her fur can be found on almost every canvas I finish..at least one piece of it. It's her signature. I think she believes she's my muse. Sweet silly little girl.

Happy Birthday Tracy
This is another card I made for a friend. She lives in the Bahamas so I did the ocean, sky, sand, sun stuff on it. I think making these cards is my favorite thing. I need to make a million dollars just drawing birthday cards. That would make me happy. Or maybe ten million. A million doesn't go that far nowadays.

Today I am a lump
Today I am a lump. I'm annoyingly aware I have eyelids because they weigh about a quarter of a pound each and keep trying to close. I'm trying to get something done but am fumbling everything today. The reason is a homeopathic sleeping pill I took last night. Okay I took two of them. And they work really well. Then I wound up not sleeping them off long enough. So now I'm moving in slow motion, calling people for pretty much no reason and struggling to remember my cat's name.
So I made a decision to buy a coke hoping the caffeine and sugar would wake me up long enough to get something productive done. I go into Jack's, this tiny neighborhood store..one of those places you rarely see anymore. The guys behind the counter, they all know you....there's always someone hanging out gossiping...they eat lunch while they ring you up.
Anyway I go up to the counter and it's "hey what's up"..."I'm good, you?" blah blah blah. I pull my debit card out of my wallet and for some reason use too much strength and it just soars right past Buford, yes his name is Buford, past the end of the counter, bounces off the wall behind him and then hits the floor, all as though I just threw it at him. I'm was so chilled out from those pills I say only "Oh...............wow...............sorry". I'm guessing he thought I was being "a rude Yankee" but being a Southern gentleman, he said nothing and instead just stared at me like there was a cigar smoking duck sitting on my head.
And the coke didn't work. I'm thinking writing this is all I'm gonna get done today.

could you still love life?
If all the things that are not a natural part of you were taken away, all the things you bought, the things you believe make you special.....the house, the money, all that stuff you just had to own, and anything else that you believe makes you better, more sparkly, more desirable than others.....if it were all gone and you were stripped down, so all that was left was a human being owning only what's on the inside, would you still feel worthy....could you still love life...would you love what you're left with?
I hope so.

Going in Peace
I've think that when life gets difficult you don't have as much time and energy to waste on drama and other nonsense because just getting through becomes your priority. And you know what's great about those times? The truly important things about life come to the forefront, and all the extraneous, time wasting, energy sucking people and things cease to matter. It's as though one is forced to be very serious and aware about what we really need from life.....the clarity that that can bring changes the more difficult times into a time of inner peace and even happiness. When the things that really don't matter, the things that bring stress or toxicity to our lives suddenly become less possible to bear, it's like a gift has been bestowed on us. When it comes to those things, it's the best feeling in the world to just not give a shit about them anymore. With that comes the ability to just go in peace.
