The Island

I had a dream a few nights ago.  Mike had brought me somewhere as a surprise....it was all water and waves and large rocks.  The water was moving and swishing around us but we were standing in the middle of it all and weren't wet and it was a though we were standing on solid ground.  I kept asking how he managed to get us there...he seemed very self satisfied that he had gotten us there without me knowing.  The dream stayed with me and I influenced this painting.  I love remembering dreams.

Moon and Tree

"Moon and Tree" by me.  Rhymes.  I sat down to do something totally different and wound up painting another tree.  Ah well.

"Ashes to Ashes"

This is "Ashes to Ashes".   Byrdie my cat died a week before his 22nd birthday, in April 2011.  The first thing I painted after he died was titled "Ghost Cat".  It's a little sad feeling that one.  Then I did this.  I had him cremated and this was connected with that.  That his ashes would meld with nature and he would become a part of it.  I was a bit off I guess right after he died and it doesn't make a lot of logical sense now,  but yet in some way it still makes sense to me; that he became of part of the world around me in some way......ashes to ashes.

"Tree in Green"

This is "Tree in Green" by me, Natalie Singer.  It's acrylic on panel.  I like it because it doesn't look quite real.....kind of like the way everything looks to me.

"Fairy and Bird"

This is "Fairy and Bird".  I started it months ago and didn't like it.  Earlier today I saw it sitting there in my folder of "I don't want to work on this anymore cause I don't like it" drawings and thought maybe I could make it into something good.  And I love it now.  A reminder not to trash anything too quickly.

Stanley

So this "Stanley" the gray cat was also inspired by my friend's 3 year old who said he wanted a gray cat named Stanley.  His parents wound up buying my painting, "Stan in a Frame" before I even painted this one.  I love his little face.
